After we sold our Honda Ruckus scooters, we bought a new 2011 Genuine Blur SS220i. We went to look at a Genuine Buddy but saw the Blur and ended up making a deal on it. The scooter looks really cool and it has plenty of get-up-and-go. It would carry both of us easily at 75 MPH. We rode the bike all over South Texas and had some good times on it. Unfortunately, the bike developed an oil leak on the front oil cooler and the dealer was not able to get a replacement part. We even contacted Genuine directly and even then could not get the bike fixed.
has had a good reputation for reliability and parts, so I am not sure what happened here. We ended up selling the bike at a loss because we got tired of having to put oil in it every few days. We consider that lost $700 a lesson learned.
The nice thing about riding in South Texas is that it rarely rains and is almost never cold. However, it did rain on us so we put the Blur under the neighbors carport. It is hard to look outside and realize you won't be riding that day.
We had high hopes for the Genuine Blur and were disappointed to have to sell it because we couldn't get it fixed. We hated to lose $700 on the deal and when it comes time to purchase another bike, we know it won't be a Genuine. Of course, things could be totally different today and maybe Genuine would be willing to provide us with another Blur to prove that... but we're not holding our breath.
